Mary Beth McGreevy was born in Eureka, Kansas, but grew up in Oklahoma, California, Michigan and
Texas. She is a graduate of
Permian
High School in Odessa, Texas (1972, of “Friday Night Lights” fame),
Butler
University in Indianapolis, Indiana (1976, B.A. in Applied Piano), the
University of
Texas at San Antonio (1986, M.M. in Piano Performance) and Covenant Theological Seminary in
St. Louis (December 2005, M.Div., summa cum laude). She has taught piano for over 30 years.
In 1975, Mary Beth married
St. Louis native, Bill McGreevy. Since then they have lived in Indianapolis; Marion, Illinois; Dallas, San Antonio, and Houston, Texas; Kansas City; St. Louis; and
Philadelphia. Before moving to Philadelphia, Mary Beth was Teaching Leader for the Bible Study Fellowship Kirkwood Day Women Class in
St. Louis for eight years.
She “retired” from BSF to become Personal Assistant to Dr. James Montgomery Boice, Senior Minister of the historic Tenth Presbyterian Church in
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in November of 1999. Dr. Boice soon added to her responsibilities that of Events Coordinator for the Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals. On Good Friday of 2000, Dr. Boice was diagnosed with an aggressive type of liver cancer and died eight weeks later. Mary Beth and her husband, who had gone to Philadelphia to be CEO of the Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals for Dr. Boice, moved back to
St. Louis in December of 2000.
From 2001-2006, Mary Beth taught the women’s Bible studies at The Covenant Presbyterian Church (PCA) in
St. Louis. Currently, in addition to teaching piano and New Testament Greek in her home, she is a frequent speaker for women’s retreats and conferences and is a Visiting Instructor at Covenant Seminary. With the Reverend Dr. George W. Robertson, she has written a series of Bible study materials; their Deuteronomy study was published in 2006 by CE&P (More Grace, More Love: Living in Covenant with God). Mary Beth also serves as a WIC Trustee Advisor for
Covenant
College (Lookout Mountain, Georgia), and is a member of the Board of Directors of Friendship Village retirement communities in
St. Louis.
